David Antonini has been a lecturer in philosophy since 2018. He teaches introductory courses in ethics and philosophy for the department as well as Science and Values, Modern Philosophy, and Social and Political Philosophy. His training is in the history of philosophy and he seeks to combine a historical and applied approach to philosophy in the classroom, focusing on historical figures and extracting the ideas from their thought that remain especially relevant to contemporary circumstances. David also mentors Clemson’s award winning ethics bowl team.
His research is in nineteenth and twentieth century continental thought as well as social and political philosophy, particularly the thought of Hannah Arendt. His manuscript on Arendt titled Public Space and Political Experience: An Arendtian Interpretation is due out in May 2021 from Lexington Press.
