Cynthia Pury is trained as a clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety disorders. Her research interests began in the area of cognition and fear, specifically threat appraisals. In 2003, she began to wonder about a different way of coping with threat: courage. Her research in courage has more recently led me to think about accolades for both courage and for virtue in general, and situational affordances for virtuous behavior.
Dr. Pury has collaborated with Chris Grau, Kelly Smith, and Charles Starkey.
