Faculty Academic Year Launch

Welcome to the 2025–2026 Academic Year at Clemson!

Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning to campus, we invite you to participate in a series of engaging events designed to inspire, connect, and prepare you for success. This August, Clemson University is hosting a series of essential meetings, professional development sessions, and student engagement activities to help you start the year strong.

These kick-off events are coordinated by your Faculty Affairs team in the Provost's Office, in collaboration with:

University Faculty Orientation

All full-time faculty hired since the start of the 2025-2026 academic year are invited to the University Faculty Orientation. This event is a day-long program that hosts speakers, workshops and a University resource fair to learn about Clemson University and the support available for early career faculty success. This event will be held on August 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The agenda and parking information will be posted soon.

Additional Events

Annual OADC Academic Chairs and Leaders Strategic Priorities Retreat

OADC is the Organization of Academic Department Chairs. All Associate Chairs, Associate Deans, Deans, Academic Associate/Assistant Vice Presidents and Associate Provosts are warmly invited to join while we hold space for conversations tailored to the unique roles of Department Chairs and School Directors. The retreat is scheduled on August 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The agenda and materials will be available on the OADC Teams channel.

New Faculty Teaching Conference

The Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation (OTEI) is hosting the New Faculty Teaching Conference to equip new faculty members with effective teaching strategies, insights on academic support, and advice from experienced faculty members. The conference is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on August 13.

New Instructor Conference

The new instructor conference hosts breakout sessions highlighting Canvas, Zoom, Kaltura video service, writing learning objectives, and much more, which will be provided by Clemson Online. Attend virtually via Zoom or in person in Cooper Library. The conference is scheduled on August 14 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

General Education Program Retreat

The General Education Program Retreat from the Division of Undergraduate Learning provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to participate in discussions surrounding the general education curriculum. The focus will be on the Crossings curriculum updates for 2025-2026 academic year, student experience data and upcoming plans for enhancing student learning and curriculum. The retreat is scheduled on August 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

General Faculty Meeting

The Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost has called a meeting of the faculty in accordance with Article 1§4 of the Constitution of the Faculty of Clemson University. This meeting occurs at the beginning of each academic year and is organized by the Faculty Senate. The meeting is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 18.

Semester Prep Drop-in Sessions

Gain valuable insights and have questions answered regarding using Canvas, Zoom, and other instructional tools during this virtual Q&A session hosted by Clemson Online experts. These sessions will be held on Monday, August 18 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, August 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
