May Graduation

Ticketing Information

All eligible May 2021 candidates who plan to attend May commencement ceremonies are required to register online so that tickets may be distributed directly to each graduate. An email message with a link to registration information will be sent to all candidates during the week of March 22. Each masters and undergraduate who has registered for their college’s ceremony will receive five (5) electronic tickets, four (4) for their guests and one (1) for the graduate. Each PhD graduate who has registered for the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will receive a maximum of eight (8) tickets—see Doctoral Graduate Information. These tickets are electronic and will be sent to the cell phone number provided by the graduate during the registration process. The graduate should be able to forward the tickets to their guests. All graduates and guests (including babies and small children) will need an electronic or printed ticket to enter BSWA and will have assigned seats. All doors will open one hour prior to the start of the ceremony. If one or more of your guests needs ADA seating, all four (4) of your guests will be seated in ADA seating. To request ADA seating for one or more of your guests, you will be asked to provide that information when you complete registration for your ceremony.

For family and friends that are unable to attend, the ceremonies will be livestreamed on Clemson’s website at https://tv.clemson.edu.

Arrival Information

All ceremonies will be held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena (BSWA) at 650 N. Academy St, Greenville, SC 29601.

Upon arrival, guests and graduates should park in City of Greenville public parking garages ($6) or private parking lots close to the arena (prices vary). There are limited amount of ADA spaces available on a first-come, first-serve basis in the VIP lot at the arena, and there is a $5 fee to park. For more information on parking, visit Bon Secours Wellness Arena's website.

No Bags will be allowed inside the arena. BSWA has a no bag policy that prohibits purses, large bags, clutches, camera cases and other similar bags from being carried into the arena, so please plan accordingly. Graduates or guests arriving with bags will not be granted access to the arena.

Doors for graduates and guests will open one hour prior to the start of the ceremony. Graduates will enter at the Loading Dock, which is located on the north side of the arena closest to N. Academy Street. Graduates must be seated at least 25 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.

Ceremony Information

Graduates should wear their Graduation Regalia—cap, gown, tassel— to their ceremony.

*Regalia ordering deadlines: April 15 for Bachelor, Master, Specialist and March 25 for Doctoral Candidates.

Questions about ordering regalia or announcements? Please call 864-656-2051.

Once inside the arena, graduates will be directed to their assigned seats, where they will find their name cards. During the ceremony, once directed by a marshal, graduates will approach the stage in a socially distanced line. Once at the stage, the graduate will give their name card to the name reader, and the graduate’s name will be called, as the graduate crosses the ramp in front of the stage. All graduates will have the opportunity to have a professional photograph made with President Clements at the top of the ramp, as well as an additional photograph after crossing the ramp. Due to health and safety concerns, facial masks must remain on at all times and there will be no handshake with the president.

To ensure the health and safety of the graduates, guests and University/arena personnel, the following measures will be in effect:

  • No bags will be allowed in the arena
  • The venue will be disinfected and sanitized before/after each ceremony.
  • A minimum of 6 feet of distance between groups of guests will be strictly enforced inside and outside the arena.
  • Graduates and guests will be required to wear face masks/coverings at all times while inside the arena.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the arena for graduates, guests and staff.
  • Each ceremony will be livestreamed and recorded for the convenience of those who cannot be in attendance.
  • All diplomas will be mailed. You will be contacted for an updated mailing address at a later date.
