Managing Funded Projects
Overview
Steps to Manage Your Funded Project
GCA Purpose and Operations
GCA oversees the post-award administration of restricted sponsored projects funded from external sources, including the administration of projects awarded to the Clemson University Research Foundation (CURF). GCA coordinates with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to receive awards from proposals submitted by Clemson faculty to external sponsors. As awards are received from external sponsors, GCA ensures that these projects are established in the Clemson financial system (PeopleSoft) to enable PIs to begin their projects. GCA then assumes responsibility for the compliant fiscal management of these funds, working with the PI and the CPAC to both ensure successful project results and compliant fiscal management. The GCA staff assists Principal Investigators (PIs), department staff, and administrators with post-award financial and administrative matters related to their sponsored (Fund 20) projects. GCA works in collaboration with the PI and the College Post-Award Contacts (CPACs) to ensure appropriate oversight of sponsored programs, and to support the PI and the CPAC in effective management.
GCA Compliance Monitoring and Sponsor Interface
GCA conducts financial compliance monitoring and risk analysis of the Clemson sponsored programs portfolio and provides extensive training and professional development activities in research administration and compliant fiscal grant management. GCA is the “external facing” designated unit to represent Clemson University to external sponsors and the audit community and is the designated point of contact for financial audits of sponsored programs.
