Clemson University has a military-friendly environment with a proud tradition of excellence dating back to its founding as a military school. Beginning with the graduating class of 1896, more than 10,000 Clemson men and women have served in the armed forces. Clemson also offers an array of services to those who have served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, and it is deeply committed to the professional development of active duty personnel and veterans.

Current Students

Bryan Lagasse Portrait

Captain Bryan Lagasse graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2010 with a B.S. in chemistry. He is currently a graduate student at Clemson and conducting research on the thermal degradation of chemical warfare agents and their simulants.

Joe Hess

Joseph Hess served in the U.S. Army National Guard as a chemical operations specialist and was deployed to Iraq from 2005-2007. Since then he received his Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in 2013 and was given a fellowship opportunity at the FDA following his undergraduate degree. Now he has been pursuing his Ph.D. in chemistry focusing on computational biophysical chemistry at Clemson University since August 2017.

Andrew Peloquin

Major Andrew Peloquin graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2007 with a B.S. in Chemistry and from the University of Florida in 2008 with an M.S. in chemistry. He is currently a graduate student at Clemson and conducting research on halogen bonding and the substitution chemistry of pentafluoropyridine.
