FIN 4990 NYC Class Trip

The Clemson Financial Horizons NYC trip offers finance students a unique opportunity to explore New York City's diverse financial landscape. This prestigious program combines academic learning with hands-on experience, providing students with insight into sectors such as corporate finance, investment banking, real estate and insurance.

Program Highlights:

  • Visit leading financial firms and meet professionals at different stages of their careers.
  • Network with Clemson alumni working in NYC finance.
  • Attend professional events, a Broadway show and an MLB game.
  • Build your résumé and confidence as you prepare for internships.

Program Details:

  • Course: FIN 4990: Clemson Financial Horizons
  • Credits: 3 hours (The cost of the course and the small course fee will cover your hotel accommodations and most meals. You will be responsible for your transportation to Manhattan.)
  • Eligibility: Freshman and sophomore finance majors
  • Group size: Approximately 21 students (161 applied last year!)
  • Travel dates: May 17-22, 2026

Application Timeline: Apply for the Clemson Financial Horizons NYC Trip through the online application. Priority will be given to students who apply before the deadline.

  • Applications open: Jan. 17, 2026
  • Application deadline: Feb. 28, 2026
  • Interviews: Conducted in March 2026
  • Final selection: Announced in late March 2026

Venice and Milan

Lions and Tigers: Exploring the Origins of Accounting and Finance in Venice

Spend two days in Milan, Italy's financial capital and home to the famed Duomo di Milano, and then spend five days in Venice, exploring how Venetian mercantilism shaped modern accounting and financial reporting. Fully experiential with ample free time plus curated activities including a cooking class and visits to cultural, academic and historic sites in Milan (Milan Duomo, Bocconi University) and Venice (Basilica San Marco, Doge's Palace, Campanile di San Marco and Piazza San Marco). Students will have full access to Venice's Vaporetto "water bus" system and excursions to the outer islands such as Murano and Burano.

Program Highlights:

  • Students will have the opportunity to explore two different cities important to modern-day accounting and finance practices.
  • Cultural experiences, including a cooking class, cultural tours of the cities and visits to important sites such as Milan Duomo and Doge's Palace.
  • Students will have some afternoons and most evenings free to explore.
  • Travel dates: March 14-21, 2026

  • Course: FIN 3550 (Investment Analysis) or ACCT 3120 (Intermediate Financial Accounting II)
  • Eligibility: Students enrolled in FIN3050 or ACCT3120
  • Cost: Study Abroad Program Fee and Application Fee
  • Group size: Approximately 25 students
  • Travel dates: March 14-21, 2026
