Melvin and Dollie Younts Trading Room

The Melvin and Dollie Younts Trading Room offers students an opportunity to gain real-time trading experience using sophisticated technology. The new trading room is located in room G028 on the ground floor of the new Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. Students use the trading room for projects in corporate finance, investments and portfolio management.

The Melvin and Dollie Younts Trading Room contains several Bloomberg terminals. The information available on Bloomberg includes real-time and historical data on equities, fixed income and derivative securities. It also contains data on the foreign exchange markets.

The Department of Finance offers Bloomberg certifications to students for free through the Trading Room. For additional information about the trading room or getting Bloomberg certified, contact us.

Trading Room FAQ

What are the hours of the Trading Room?
The trading room is staffed Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the semester. Additional hours for access may be available for Clemson University students, faculty and staff, but the room will not be staffed.

How can I learn more and start working on my Bloomberg certification?
There are several ways to learn more:

• Each month, we host Bloomberg Unlocked, a 90-minute seminar where you will learn about the trading room, go through account creation and cover common navigation commands.
• You can schedule an Intro to Trading Room and Bloomberg Terminals meeting with one of our student workers. This is a 30-minute introductory meeting to help you get started with the Bloomberg terminal and the Bloomberg certification. It will be hosted by a student trading room worker who is Bloomberg-certified.
• You can get started by creating your own account and completing self-paced learning modules.

What is the cost of a Bloomberg certification?
For Clemson University students and employees, the Bloomberg certifications are free when completed inside the Trading Room.

Why should I get a Bloomberg certification?
Bloomberg's e-learning certificate courses offer an advantage by empowering students and early career finance professionals with the hands-on knowledge and real-world experience needed to compete and succeed.
