Athletic Training

Athletic Trainers are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to help return athletes to full activity as quickly and safely as possible.  Through prevention and first responder interventions, our trainers manage and treat acute and chronic conditions for Clemson Club and Intramural athletes.

Our goal at Campus Recreation is to keep the students who participate in our programs safe and healthy.  The athletic training services are provided in the Physical Therapy Room in Fike Recreation Center and are open to Club and Intramural athletes.  Our relationship with University Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine allows us to provide comprehensive and efficient responses to acute and chronic medical conditions and appropriate referrals to sports medicine trained physicians if necessary.  In addition to orthopedic injury evaluations and treatments, our athletic trainers provide concussion evaluations, management, and referrals to appropriate health care providers.

Athletic Training Room Services*

Clinical services are by appointment only and are for student athletes who have sports-related injuries which they would like to have evaluated and treated.  The athletic trainers also work closely with the physical therapists at University Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine for post-operative patients who seek more comprehensive rehabilitation on campus.

First Aid and Emergency services will be provided at any time during open hours.

A unique service to students is an Orthopedic Injury Clinic on Mondays and Thursdays offered at Redfern Health Center, available to all students who have paid the student health fee. Please call 864-656-1541, or stop in Redfern to make and appointment.

*Athletic training services provided by Campus Recreation are free to club and intramural athletes who have sports related injuries.  Costs that may be associated with services provided at Redfern include but are not limited to x-rays and bracing.  Most health insurance policies are accepted when receiving physical therapy treatments at UPTSM.

The Physical Therapy Room is located in Room 208 in Fike Recreation Center.
