Circuit Optimization & Device Engineering for Scalable Integrated Nanoelectronics

The CO-DESIGN Lab, led by Shamiul Alam, explores emerging nanoelectronic devices, circuit–system co-design, and advanced computing technologies to enable the next generation of energy-efficient, scalable, and resilient computing systems.

Our research spans the full hardware stack - from devices and circuits to architectures and computing systems - with an emphasis on developing innovative electronic technologies for both room-temperature and extreme-environment applications. By bringing together solid-state electronics, VLSI design, emerging memory and computing devices, and hardware–software co-design, we seek to address fundamental challenges in performance, energy efficiency, reliability, security, and scalability.

Our research interests include electronics for extreme environments (cryogenic and high-temperature), non-volatile memory systems, neuromorphic and in-memory computing, hardware security, hardware for AI and AI for hardware, and solid-state electronics and VLSI design.

At CO-DESIGN Lab, our goal is to bridge the gap between emerging device technologies and practical computing systems, translating innovations at the device level into circuits and architectures that power future intelligent and high-performance computing platforms.
