CECAS Proposal Development
The College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences Proposal Development office is a decentralized, service-oriented unit that assists faculty with pre-awards activities.
Before starting your proposal please fill out the Pre-Award Funding Request form for assistance. Research Administrators provide assistance with the sponsor and internal forms, budget development, and ensure compliance with sponsors' guidelines. Our Proposal Editor gathers information, writes text, provides advice about sponsor policies, provides templates, and edits proposals.
Please include the sponsor, due date, and any proposal materials. You will be assigned to one of our Research Administrators and receive a confirmation email.
Proposal Resources
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) requires the use of InfoEd for all grant proposal submissions and approvals.
All faculty members must register their intent to submit a proposal through the InfoEd system. This process is initiated by selecting the “Pre-Award Funding Request” option above.
Upon submission of the intake form, the request will be routed to the Pre-Award Office, and a Grants Administrator will be assigned to the proposal. Once assigned, the Grants Administrator will manage the remaining InfoEd data entry and coordinate the required approval routing.
Compliance Requirement: Proposals that are not initiated and processed through InfoEd will not be reviewed, approved, or submitted by the Pre-Awards Office.
Conflict of Interest
Federal Regulations require that all investigators submitting grant applications to Public Health Service agencies (AHRQ, ATSDR, CDC, FDA, HRSA, HIS, NIH, OIG, SAMHSA) must complete a Financial Conflict of Interest in Research Disclosure Form and the 30-minute CITI training module on Financial Conflict of Interest before submitting an application to a PHS agency.
All PIs must complete this disclosure form and the CITI training to receive certification by the Clemson University Conflict of Interest in Research office prior to any proposal submission. These requirements apply to those projects who are responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of the research, specifically faculty, post-docs, grad/undergrad, students, advisors, and staff.
Clemson University PI Certification
All Principal Investigators and Co-Principal Investigators must be certified in order for the proposal to be awarded in a sponsored program proposal. Timely completion of this convenient online process in advance of submission will expedite proposal submissions.
This online certification process takes less than two hours total to complete. Each module can be completed independently. Proposals submitted without the required certification will be delayed until the certification process is completed.
PI Certification Program - A valid university ID and password will be required to access the program.
Research Services
Machining and Technical Services (MTS) is a Research Support Center offering capabilities from drafting and machining to plastic fabrication and welding. In addition to service requests, they also provide consultation services to help clients determine the best methods for manufacturing their products, devices, and prototypes.
