Participation Student Information
Clemson University is required to confirm that each student registered has participated in their course(s) within each term they are enrolled. Instructors will be responsible for indicating the student’s participation in their class at least one day before the last day to drop a class or withdraw from the University without a W grade.
Students will need to work with their instructors to ensure that their enrollment in courses is complete by the last day to drop a class or withdraw from the University without a W grade.
If you enroll late or have another valid reason for missing class within this period of the academic calendar, contact your instructors as soon as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
We have put together a list of frequently asked participation confirmation questions, but this section may not cover every scenario. Please reach out to your instructor or the Office of Student Financial Aid if you have additional questions.
-
I enrolled in my course late and my financial aid is missing. What should I do?
If you enroll before the last date to drop without a record, your professor will still be able to record your attendance. Contact your instructor to confirm that they have updated your attendance in iROAR.
-
How do I know if my instructor has confirmed my participation in my courses this semester?
You will have access to an Attendance module through iROAR that will indicate your attendance in courses. You'll see the list of the courses you're registered for, along with the status of each course. If you're confirmed, there's nothing else you need to do.
Please note that you will not see attendance marked for each class meeting; only one indicator will exist for the first day of class through the last date to drop without a record.
-
What happens if I don't participate or it is not confirmed by my instructor?
If your instructor does not confirm your participation, Financial Aid will adjust your aid based on the number of credit hours confirmed, meaning your aid package could be reduced. If you have already received a refund based on the credits for an unconfirmed course, you may end up with an account balance that must be repaid.
-
I need to drop a course. How will that affect my financial aid?
If you drop the course before the last day to drop without a W, your aid will be updated according to the courses you are enrolled in. Your credit hours will be locked on this date.
After this date, if you withdraw from a class, you will not lose financial aid, but you would not get any money back for that class.
If you withdraw from the university completely, you would owe financial aid money according to the University’s withdrawal policy.
-
I am planning to drop one course but will add another course to keep my full-time registration. How will this affect my financial aid?
As long as you make the adjustments before last day to drop without a record, your aid would not ultimately be affected.
It is important that your schedule is correct by this deadline so that your aid is not affected.
