Office of Research Security

International Collaboration

Collaborating with colleagues around the world is central to advancing knowledge and discovery. Clemson University encourages international research partnerships and supports global engagement across the research enterprise.

At the same time, some international activities may be subject to federal disclosure requirements, research security obligations, export control regulations, or sponsor-specific restrictions. The Office of Research Security helps researchers navigate these requirements so collaborations can move forward smoothly and responsibly.

ORS Can Help With

  • International research collaborations and partnerships
  • Visiting scholars and researchers
  • Foreign appointments, affiliations, and activities
  • Current, pending, and in-kind support disclosures
  • Research security requirements and training
  • Foreign talent recruitment program questions
  • Agreements involving foreign entities
  • Export control and sanctions compliance

Why It Matters

Federal sponsors increasingly require transparency regarding international collaborations, outside affiliations, and sources of support. Early engagement with the Office of Research Security can help identify potential requirements, avoid compliance concerns, and prevent delays in proposals, awards, or research activities.
