Bystander Intervention
When a threat may be present, active bystanders should intervene if a person is in need of medical assistance, mental health counseling or any other form of assistance. It is important to intervene early before a situation escalates. To keep a safe and healthy culture on campus, everyone must do their part to intervene as active bystanders.
-
Aspire to Intervene
An active bystander speaks up or does something when an incident that is harmful or potentially harmful is witnessed, including hazing, discrimination, bullying and bias.

Bystander Intervention Resources
Being an active bystander doesn’t always mean a superhero act but can be as simple as saying you do not agree with a discriminatory and/or derogatory statement or action or even standing up against hazing. The University has many resources available to assist in the event an individual needs assistance.

CARE Network
The CARE Network is a service of the Office of Advocacy and Success that offers individualized assistance for all Clemson students by assessing needs, identifying support networks, and offering referrals to campus and community resources. We encourage any person who is concerned about a student to complete our referral form so that we can outreach to the student and offer support.
