AIDS and HIV Policy
Standards of Conduct
It is the intent of this policy to ensure that those individuals living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or diagnosed with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) will not be unlawfully discriminated against at Clemson University. The University supports equality of education and employment opportunity. No person will be denied admission to any educational program or activity, or be denied employment based on HIV infection. Overall it is important that the entire University community be protected from unnecessary risks; therefore, proper protective measures will be adopted as recommended by the latest medical and scientific research, and as required by OSHA regulations.
Information about HIV infection or AIDS is treated as strictly confidential medical information. Consistent with South Carolina law, positive tests for HIV or the diagnosis of AIDS are reported to the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control.
