        Intro to GIS for Planners        
Dr. Lynn Abdouni joined the City and Regional Planning program in Fall 2022 as the instructor of the planning-related GIS classes. She is also a faculty member of the Landscape Architecture program. Dr. Abdouni earned the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2021 at the University of Georgia in the College of Environment and Design, where she taught design and graphic representation courses on the graduate and undergraduate levels. She worked as a publication designer for Information International, a research firm based in Beirut, and as a community gardens coordinator at the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. Her research focuses on mapping the morphology of the vernacular and informal built environment. Lynn pays specific attention to peri-urban and rural towns with infrastructural challenges in the Middle East and the U.S. Southeast. Her preferred methods of research are satellite imagery analysis and geographic information systems (GIS). Lynn presented at the 2021 Annual Conference of the American Association of Geographers (AAG), the 2019 Annual Conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP), and the 2018 Poster Sessions at the American Planning Association (APA).
