Jim Hopke retired in August 2021 as President of American Campus Communities (ACC), a fully integrated Real Estate Investment Trust, publicly traded on the NYSE. As President, Hopke was responsible for corporate and property operations for a portfolio of over 170 wholly owned student housing apartments containing approximately 100,000 beds. During his 20-year career with ACC he held positions as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Investment Officer, EVP of Asset Management, EVP for Project Management and Construction and SVP of Acquisitions.

Prior to joining ACC, Hopke was Vice President, Asset Management and Advisory Services for Wachovia Securities’ Real Estate Capital Markets group. He was previously a Vice President of JPI Development and Insignia Financial Group and is a former MAI Member of The Appraisal Institute.

Jim also currently serves as a board member for the non-profit LifeWorks Affordable Housing Corporation in Austin, TX. Hopke received a B.S. in Administrative Management from Clemson University in 1984.
