Dongwoo Jason Yeom, Ph.D., LEED GA, is a researcher and educator specializing in human-building interaction, with a focus on AI-driven indoor environmental control systems that promote occupant health, comfort, and sustainability. His interdisciplinary work bridges architecture, engineering, and health sciences to design inclusive environments, particularly for older adults and individuals with cognitive impairments. Prior to joining Clemson, Yeom served on the faculty at Arizona State University, where he led innovative, human-centered research projects and collaborated extensively with experts in senior care with dementia, cognitive performance, and building energy management. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, secured funding from diverse sources, and mentored numerous Ph.D. students through successful research and publication efforts. To bridge academic research and real-world impact, Yeom co-founded Beyond Lynk LLC, a healthcare technology startup developing AI-powered systems that optimize indoor thermal and lighting conditions using wearable sensor data. The platform is designed to improve the quality of life for residents in dementia care facilities while supporting caregivers. At Clemson, Yeom brings a strong commitment to advancing human-centered systems and design in the built environment. His work exemplifies a collaborative and forward-thinking approach that aligns with Clemson’s mission to foster transformative impact through research, teaching, and innovation.
