Alexander Poston is the Craft + Computation Labs Manager and a Lecturer at the School of Architecture, bringing a broad spectrum of design, fabrication, and construction experience to both teaching and practice. With a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from Clemson University, Alex developed a deep interest in hands-on, material-focused design. While at Clemson, he earned an Architecture + CommunityBUILD Certificate and played a key role in designing and constructing two community garden structures in Charleston, SC. During graduate studies, Alex served as a Graduate Assistant in both the Digital Design Shop (DDS) and the Materials Lab, further cultivating his expertise in digital fabrication, materials research, and design-build pedagogy. Professionally, Alex has worked in architecture firms across South Carolina, including Craig Gaulden Davis | PBK and LBE Architects \ Engineers, where he contributed to a range of civic, educational, Federal, and commercial projects. Complementing this experience is a strong background in construction and craft. Alex has worked with construction companies as well as JMO Woodworks, a cabinet and furniture fabrication shop, where he deepened his understanding of materials and fabrication processes from concept to final build. This multidisciplinary experience informs his teaching and lab management, bridging the gap between design, material experimentation, and real-world application.
