Tareva Johnson is a Ph.D. Candidate in English Literature at the University of Georgia. She is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina and long-time resident of the Southeast U.S. Her hometown and mobility are important to her dissertation-in-progress about the importance of space to black experiences in the U.S. as documented in the literature, literary theory, musical traditions, and canonical performances of black genius broadcasted via global platforms. She is happy to situate herself and her scholarship in Clemson for a while to see how this particular space influences and is influenced by black folks and their cultural productions
