Heather Clifton Haithcock is a dedicated and experienced voice professor with nearly two decades of teaching experience, including over nine years at the collegiate level. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Southern Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in Music from Radford University, where she also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. There, she taught applied voice and helped direct and perform in the University’s opera scenes program, gaining valuable experience in both instruction and performance. As the Graduate Teaching Assistant, she also helped plan and execute the Spring Metropolitan Opera trips to New York City for faculty, students, and community members.

Her professional background includes being a Young Apprentice Artist with Opera Roanoke, where she performed in productions such as Carmen, Il Trovatore, The Pirates of Penzance, and a variety of opera scenes programs in the surrounding area. Heather also served for three years as the administrative assistant to the Artistic Director of Opera Roanoke, contributing to both the artistic and operational aspects of the company.

Professor Haithcock has taught Applied Voice, Diction, and Music and Art Appreciation, and is known for her student-focused approach and commitment to developing well-rounded musicians. During her time at Southern Wesleyan University, she directed three full-scale musicals: You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Smokey Joe’s Café, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Most recently, she performed as the soprano soloist in Southern Wesleyan University’s Spring 2025 performance of Mozart’s Coronation Mass, continuing her active engagement as a performer in the community.
