Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

As part of CCIT’s Research, Computing, and Data Engagement group, we support faculty, students, and researchers integrating AI and machine learning into their research and teaching. Our services include consultations, workshops, training resources, proposal reviews, and guidance for effectively utilizing Clemson's Palmetto HPC Cluster. We also offer customized project support, AI-driven strategy development across disciplines, proposal development assistance, proposal review, and classroom lectures introducing foundational concepts and practical applications of AI and machine learning. Our areas of specialization include machine learning, natural language processing, large language models, computer vision, social media analysis, and data augmentation.

 

Meet The Director

Carl Ehrett

Dr. Carl Ehrett is the Director of Applied Machine Learning within Clemson's Research, Computing, and Data Engagement group at CCIT. In that role he supports researchers applying AI and machine learning using Clemson's compute resources, including the Palmetto HPC Cluster. He holds Ph.D.'s in Analytic Philosophy from Northwestern University and Mathematical and Statistical Sciences from Clemson University, specializing in Bayesian statistics, computational mathematics, and AI. Previously, he co-led Clemson’s Watt AI Program, mentoring interdisciplinary student research teams, and contributed to the Media Forensics Hub, applying machine learning and natural language processing to analyze misinformation online. His current interests span large language models, natural language processing, computer vision, social media analysis, and data augmentation.
