Need More Assistance?

If you need further support or help with research computing resources at Clemson University, this section of our website can help. The Research Computing and Data (RCD) team offers a chat platform, weekly office hours and other ways to connect. Our team is here to help!

Tip

Have you tried troubleshooting with our RCD documentation? This is a great start and you might be able to find the answer you were looking for without having to wait for a response.

Community Support

Users are invited to connect with the research computing community at Clemson through our Mattermost chat server.

For small issues, you can try asking in a related channel to see if other users have any ideas.

Contact the RCDE Team

User support is provided by the CCIT Research Computing and Data Engagement (RCDE) team. You can get in touch with a staff member in one of these ways:

  1. Drop by our weekly office hours and talk to us.
  2. Open a case with us by submitting a support ticket.
  3. Send us a message through email support.

Office Hours

We invite users to request an appointment and speak with the RCD team directly. This is a great time to ask questions about Palmetto, follow up on a previous support request, get feedback on your ideas, solve a small problem quickly and more!

Office hours are now held by appointments booked through a self-service interface, allowing much more flexibility in requesting help.

Warning

You must sign in to the booking site with your Clemson account (as described below). Signing in with a personal Outlook account will not work.

External users (users who are not Clemson students or Employees) of Palmetto can request a meeting by submitting a ticket and including their availability.

Scheduling

Use one of the following to book an appointment:

  • Book Palmetto Support: Ask questions about or discuss anything related to Palmetto. Follow up on support request, request help creating batch scripts, request help installing software, request help solving issues, request guidance on improving performance, etc.
  • Book RCD ConsultationAsk us questions about various cyber-infrastructure for research topics, perhaps unrelated to Palmetto.
  • Book ColdFront SupportDiscuss any issues related to  ColdFront or have us help walk through any procedure: creating or reviewing projects, requesting allocations, user management, etc.
  • Book AI/ML ConsultationAsk questions about AI/ML research applications, either on Palmetto or otherwise. We can help discuss AI/ML strategy, provide proposal review related to AI/ML, help use Palmetto resources for AI/ML or discuss other related matters.
  • Book Cloud ConsultationAsk us questions about running research projects in the cloud. We can help with cost estimates, basic architecture advice and some basic troubleshooting.
