Giving to Clemson: The Department of Bioengineering

Clemson Bioengineering contributes to Clemson University's strategic initiatives by sustaining the Carnegie R1 research institution level and supporting economic development through research and technology innovation. With your ongoing support, we can continue to increase the national and international visibility of the department by recruiting top faculty and students and expanding our statewide research facilities.

Your gift helps Clemson Bioengineering grow and pursue the cutting edge in the biomedical field. To make a contribution or for more information on giving opportunities, please contact Doug Gray, Senior Director of Development, dgray2@clemson.edu.

Faculty Funds

One of our most vital assets is our faculty, who work side-by-side with students, partner with healthcare workers, and influence industry from across South Carolina and the world. Being competitive for talent means the need for annual support to recruit and retain.

BIOE Teaching & Technology

Our faculty has revolutionized health care by conducting pioneering biomaterials research, and our students regularly showcase their talents in national competitions. Each of these ambitions is stoked by private contributions that foster innovation.

Michael Zebuhr Memorial Fund 1980-2006

Memorial fund flyer overviewA bioengineering Ph.D. student on spring break with family in 2006, Mike Zebuhr, was fatally shot during a robbery in Minneapolis, Minn. He was a role model who contributed greatly to our department and the field. In his memory, Clemson University established the Michael Zebuhr Memorial Fund. This fund, open to graduate and undergraduate students, is used to support research projects initiated by Clemson bioengineering students. Students can apply for a Michael Zebuhr Memorial Award by submitting a summary of their proposed research, a budget, a résumé and a letter of recommendation.

  1. Their research plan
  2. Those qualities that Mike personified — a strong work ethic, dedication, intelligence, creativity, practicality, and enthusiasm.
