Earn EMT Certification

The Clemson University Pre-Hospital Education program offers Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training for students of the University. This program is managed by the Clemson University Fire and EMS Department and taught by members of CUFD. The program gives students the skills needed to provide medical support and transport to injured or critically ill patients.

Course Details

The program will feature a hybrid format with online modules, in-person classroom instruction and skills labs, as well as clinical experiences. Each student will be required to ride on an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance or Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) and have a minimum of 10 patient contacts, which typically takes around 36 hours to complete.

Application Dates
  • Applications for the course must be submitted by Monday, July 20, 2026 at 8 a.m.
  • Applicants will be notified of their acceptance no later than Friday, August 3, 2026.

Course and Fee Details
  • Course fee is $1600 and is due by August 10, 2026 at 5 p.m. Course fee includes:
    • Your digital book and access to study material from the vendor
    • A clinical uniform shirt
    • Any certification cards
  • The course will run from August 24, 2026 through March 12, 2027.
    • Classes will not be held during University holidays or final exam week.
  • Each student will be assigned an in-person class day, based on their availability.
    • Changes to the assigned in-person day may be made with prior approval from the instructor, such as for major academic obligations.
