Satellite Accumulation Point
Hazardous waste shall be accumulated safely by the department until removed by the Hazardous Materials Manager or contract hazardous waste service representative. Removal will take place as soon as possible after notification is given to the Hazardous Materials Manager but no later than within three days of the accumulation start date for excess wastes.
Ignitable wastes shall be stored in accordance with fire safety requirements for storage of flammables. Contact the University Fire Department for information (656-2323).
Corrosive wastes shall be stored in accordance with procedures for storage of corrosive materials, with secondary containment employed to prevent contamination or reaction from leakage.
Poisonous/Toxic wastes shall be stored in exhaust-ventilated areas and double contained to prevent leakage.
Reactive wastes shall be isolated and reported to the Hazardous Materials Manager for immediate removal or special handling by the contract hazardous waste service representative.
