Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine

Veterinary Services (Coming Soon)

*The college is currently developing our ambulatory services. We will update this page when we are up and running and ready to accept clients.

The Clemson University Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (PCVM) is dedicated to providing quality ambulatory veterinary services to farms throughout Upstate South Carolina. Our team of experienced mobile veterinarians and veterinary technicians delivers on-farm care, ensuring the health and well-being of your animals. Whether you want to increase your food or fiber production with herd health preventive care or maximize the health of your livestock companions, our ambulatory team is here to help.

Our CVM ambulatory services will serve as a critical training opportunity for veterinary students. Students and highly qualified veterinary professionals will practice the art of veterinary medicine side by side to allow the students to improve their critical thinking and essential clinical skills while the experienced clinicians share their expertise with the student.

Dr. Shawn Williamson was born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Clemson University, where his work at the Clemson University Equine Research Center sparked his passion for equine breeding, reproduction and management.

  • Michal Benoit Cuthbertson, DVM- Professor of Practice

    Callie Cuthbertson

If you ask Dr. Michal "Callie" Benoit when she decided to become a veterinarian, she'll tell you it started long before veterinary school. Growing up in a small town in upstate New York, she spent her childhood around horses; riding, showing in 4-H, helping her grandmother at the barn, and eagerly tagging along with the local large animal veterinarian. Watching "Doc" care for both animals and the people behind them sparked a dream that never changed.

That dream led Benoit to Cornell undergrad then to NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine and, eventually, to Virginia, where she spent nearly 20 years building and owning a rural equine practice. She has treated everything from newborn foals to emergency colic cases, often with a truck full of equipment, a cup of coffee, and a GPS that occasionally questioned her life choices.

While Benoit loves practicing veterinary medicine, what truly energizes her is teaching. She has mentored veterinary, technician, and pre-veterinary students, welcomed countless ride-alongs, and encouraged young people through 4-H and agricultural programs. Nothing makes her prouder than watching former students become colleagues, especially those returning to serve as large animal veterinarians in rural communities.

As a faculty member at Clemson University's College of Veterinary Medicine, Benoit is excited to help build something special. She hopes to prepare students to become not only excellent veterinarians, but also trusted neighbors, compassionate mentors, and lifelong advocates for animals, agriculture, and the communities they serve. And if a few students leave with muddy boots and a newfound appreciation for large animal practice, she'll consider that a bonus.
