Report a Claim

What to do if you have a loss of:

Property

  • Immediately call facilities at (864) 656-2186
  • Give immediate written and verbal notice to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance at (864) 656-3354
  • Protect property from further damage
  • Separate damaged and undamaged property and make an inventory of destroyed, damaged and undamaged property
  • Take pictures of damaged equipment, building, contents, etc.
  • Forward a list of damaged property to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance
  • Cooperate with Clemson University’s insurance adjusters
  • Submit repair estimates or invoices to Office of Risk Services & Insurance  

Automobile Liability

  • Give immediate verbal and written notice to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance. Complete Motor Vehicle Accident Report (CUBO 505) and fax to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance at (864) 656-4558. The notice should report all known facts (i.e., date, time and place, names of injured party(ies) and witnesses, description of incident, etc)
  • Follow directions outlined in Employees Responsibility in Automobile Accidents (This form should also be available in the glove compartment of each automobile)
  • Take pictures of any visible damage to the university vehicle and any other vehicles involved in the accident. Also, include the pictures of the license plate of each vehicle involved in the accident for insurance purposes
  • Forward all documents to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance immediately

Tort Liability

  • Give immediate verbal and written notice to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance of any incident that may result in a liability claim against the university.  The notice should report all known facts (i.e. date, time and place, injured party(ies), witnesses, description of event, etc.). A Tort Liability Claim Form should be completed and forwarded to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance for any third party wishing to file a claim against the university.
  • Take pictures of any visible cause of loss (pothole, fallen tree, broken sidewalk, etc.)
  • Immediately forward any suit papers or any other written demands for damages (summons and complaints) to the Office of Risk Services & Insurance and General Counsel (Include the name of the person served, date and time of service)
