Apply for Reentry

  1. Submit the Former Student Returning application.
You will need to create a new account to complete the request—it is not affiliated with your Clemson username and password.
  2. Pay the application fee of $40. Instructions for payment are provided in the application.
  3. Check the status of your application in the Clemson admissions portal.
  4. Please allow five to seven business days after submission for processing of your application. You will receive an email at the email address entered on your application when a decision is ready to be viewed in your portal.

Next Steps

If you are a former student continuing your studies, you will be approved to reenter your previous major but in the current catalog year. Students with 90+ hours are approved into the major AND catalog year they were in when they last attended. Former students returning whose major has been discontinued will return in a nondegree status and must change to a degree-granting program.

Clemson graduates requesting reentrance as former students are placed in a "Nondegree-Seeking Undergraduate" status. After your request is approved you can update your status via a Change of Program Form in iROAR.

Advising

After approval and prior to enrolling in courses, all degree-seeking former undergraduates must meet with an advisor. Advising appointments are made on a first come, first served basis. If you are considering taking a course over the summer, you should meet with an advisor early. Course registration is not permitted until you meet with an advisor.

After your request for reentry is approved, you will receive instructions to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor in your academic college. Upon completion of that appointment, you will be reassigned to an academic advisor in their declared major, regardless of your intended major. Nondegree-seeking students are assigned to an academic advisor in the Academic Success Center (ASC).

If your request for reentrance is approved, please allow five business days for communications from your advisor in your academic college. Instructions will be sent to your Clemson University email address. If after five business days you have not received any communication, reach out to a contact in the Academic Advising Directory from your major department. If you do not currently have a Clemson email, you must first activate your CLEMSON username and then set up your email.

Students Returning From Academic Probation, Suspension or Dismissal

Probation

Students on academic probation return on probation. Students remain on probation until the requirements to be in good standing have been met.

Suspension

If you have been academically suspended from Clemson, you will need to submit a Request for Reentrance when you are eligible to return.

Dismissal

If you have been academically dismissed from Clemson University, you will need to appeal your dismissal and submit a Request for Reentrance. After the Appeals Committee on Academic Eligibility has met, a decision will be sent to you and the Office of the Registrar. The Office of the Registrar will then process all applications for which an appeal was approved. For more questions and deadlines for appeals, please contact Undergraduate Learning.
