Master of Real Estate Development

Career Guidance & Placement

The MRED program knows the value of your Clemson degree and works to help you promote your education, skills and background to potential employers.

Although the ultimate goal of many MRED students is to become a real estate developer, their talent and skill sets reflect a versatility that makes them well-suited for all aspects of the real estate industry. They are exposed to all components of the real estate process in their curriculum and our goal is to have them ready to “hit the ground running” providing value, no matter what sector of the industry they pursue.

The background, education, and skill sets of Clemson MRED students enable them to enter a challenging real estate environment and make immediate contributions to their employers. Our students are eager to make their mark and become leaders in the real estate profession.

Our alumni are employed by the full array of firms involved in project development; construction management; financial and investment analysis; asset management and acquisition; sales, marketing and leasing; and portfolio analysis.

Career Guidance - Entering the Industry with Confidence

Throughout the program, we assist you to be prepared for seeking summer internships and permanent employment upon graduation. We have formal sessions with Faculty, Advancement Board Members, Alumni and HR Personnel focusing on:

  • Resume Preparation
  • Job Search Strategies
  • Interviewing Techniques
  • Salary-compensation Negotiations/Job Acceptance
  • Business Protocol and Professional Relations Advice

Clemson also has a self-interview stream practice system for students to rehearse an array of questions, and then study their own performance. We assist in preparing for different styles of interviewing (in-person, phone, and Zoom/webinar), learning about the different categories of questions employers ask, and making a good impression from start to finish.

Clemson’s Michelin® Career Center offers programs and services to help all Clemson students identify, strategize and achieve their career aspirations.

Faculty, Alumni, Board Members and partners enjoy providing feedback and advice to students in a mentoring capacity.

By The Numbers

  • 100% Internship placement since 2004
  • 92% of graduates employed within 3 months of graduation

Placement Assistance

Clemson MRED students are in high demand for internships and permanent positions after graduation. We assist our students, but it is always incumbent upon significant student initiative to develop an active strategy to pursue employment. In addition to the counseling we provide, the ability to network through the participation through travel during your program in Atlanta, Charlotte, South Carolina, and the Fall ULI conferences with 6,000 attendees in major markets plus meeting many professionals in regional tours, roundtables, class presentations, etc. is a magnificent opportunity to promote yourself for a future position.

Our growing alumni association is already paying dividends for networking and job opportunities. Furthermore, our development and industry professionals on our Advancement Board assist in identifying future employment and internship opportunities. The MRED’s faculty is diverse and dedicated, using their expertise and experience to mentor students and help put them in front of the industry professionals who may help guide their career.

Members of the Advancement Board for Real Estate Development - as well as Clemson alumni and friends in real estate - provide resources for direction, networking and job placement. Job shadow and other internship experiences are also instrumental in enhancing your experience and creating possible career opportunities.

Furthermore, the program prepares a Student Biography book for national and regional employers. To request a copy contact Amy Matthews Herrick.
