Development Tours
Students tour developments and meet numerous professionals during the MRED program. Tours can include travel to the South Carolina Coast using Charleston, SC as a home base for coastal site tours. During this tour, you will study some of the nation’s premier resort, hotel, historic, mixed-use, golf, master-planned and new urbanist communities. Extended trips to other regional cities like Atlanta and Charlotte are a routine part of the curriculum, as well as one-day trips to Asheville and Columbia. The 1.4 million Upstate has excellent developments by regional and national developers that allow the students to visit and meet with top development officials.
All MRED students are members of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and have access to regional ULI opportunities throughout the year.
MRED students visit the Inland Port in Spartanburg, SC with tour hosts Micah Mallace, the director of strategic projects for SCPorts, and MRED alumni, Brockton Hall, with Colliers International.
