All full-time CAFLS and PSA employees with a minimum of one year of CAFLS or PSA service are eligible to be nominated for the awards listed below.

Staff Administrative & Professional Awards
These awards recognize administrative and professional staff members who demonstrate outstanding dedication and commitment to the College or PSA and their work unit. All award winners will receive a plaque and honorarium for $500. A single award will be given in each of the following staff categories:
Administrative (clerical) – employees who support one or more of the mission areas within CAFLS and PSA (teaching, research, Extension, and public service) by performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties. Examples of employee job titles in this category include but are not limited to: Accounting/Fiscal Analyst I, Admin Specialist, Administrative Assistant, and Administrative Coordinator.
Professional – employees who support one or more of the mission areas within CAFLS and PSA (teaching, research, Extension, and public service) by performing a variety of duties. The employee applies his or her specialized knowledge to individual situations that are primarily intellectual, managerial or creative, and that require the exercise of discretion and judgment. Examples of employee job titles in this category include but are not limited to: Accounting/Fiscal Analyst (II and III), Accounting/Fiscal Manager, Director, Extension Associate, Program Coordinator, Scientist, and Student Services Manager.
Eligibility
All full-time staff (FTE and TLP) employees with a minimum of one year of CAFLS or PSA service at the time of nomination are eligible.
Nomination Requirements and Procedure
Staff may be nominated by their supervisor, other staff, faculty, students or self by completing an award nomination form and submitting the materials specified.
Required Materials:

- Summary describing the highlights, achievements, and accomplishments to be used at the awards ceremony, website, etc. (250 word maximum)

Staff Technical Awards
These awards recognize field, laboratory, and technical office staff members who demonstrate outstanding dedication and commitment to the College or PSA and their work unit. All award winners will receive a plaque and honorarium for $500. A single award will be given in each of the following staff categories:
Technical (field) – employees who support one or more of the mission areas within CAFLS (teaching, research, Extension, and public service) by performing a variety of field-based technical duties. Examples of employee job titles in this category include but are not limited to: Agriculture/Animal Associate, Agricultural Aide, Building/Ground Specialist, Natural Resources Technician, Program Assistant, and Wildlife Biologist.
Technical (laboratory/office) – employees who support one or more of the mission areas within CAFLS and PSA (teaching, research, Extension, and public service) by performing a variety of laboratory- or office-based technical duties. Examples of employee job titles in this category include but are not limited to: GIS Manager, Lab Assistant, Lab Specialist, and Research Specialist.
Eligibility

Staff Extension Agent Awards
These awards recognize Extension Agents who demonstrate outstanding dedication and commitment to the College or PSA and their work unit. All award winners will receive a plaque and honorarium for $500. A single award will be given in each of the following staff categories:
Extension Agent (junior) – employees with the job title of Assistant or Associate Extension Agent who support the Extension mission at the county, area, or state level.
Extension Agent (senior) – employees with the job title of Senior, Senior Associate or Distinguished Extension Agent who support the Extension mission at the county, area, or state level.
Eligibility
All full-time staff (FTE and TLP) employees with a minimum of one year of CAFLS or PSA service at the time of nomination are eligible.

Advising & Mentoring Award (Staff or Faculty)
This award honors one faculty or staff member who has served undergraduate advisees in exemplary ways, or demonstrated excellence in graduate student mentoring. All award winners will receive a plaque and honorarium for $500. The winner will be nominated for the Clemson University Frank A. Burtner Award for Excellence in Advising the following academic year and supported to submit for any appropriate association awards (i.e. NACADA regional awards).
Eligibility
All regular and special faculty and professional staff with a minimum of one year of CAFLS service at the time of nomination are eligible.

Faculty Teaching Awards
These awards recognize outstanding contributions of faculty to teaching at Clemson University. All award winners will receive a plaque and honorarium for $500. Winners will also submit for Provost Awards Program for Outstanding Teaching the following academic year and encouraged to submit for the NACTA Educator Award and USDA National Awards for Excellence in College and University Teaching in the Food and Agricultural Sciences.
The award honors two faculty members (one junior, and one senior) who demonstrate a commitment to quality instruction, show evidence of a creative combination of teaching strategies, and generate enthusiasm in students. This award recognizes the quality of recent achievements expressed through teaching philosophy, methodology, and self-assessment aimed at improvement and innovation.
Eligibility
All regular and special faculty with a minimum of one year of CAFLS service at the time of nomination are eligible.
Junior and senior faculty are defined as:
- Junior - 6 years of experience or less
- Senior - more than 6 years of experience

Faculty Research Awards
These awards recognize outstanding contributions of faculty to research at Clemson University. All award winners will receive a plaque and honorarium for $500.
The award honors two faculty members (one junior, and one senior) with high merit of scholarship and exemplary research performance. This award is intended to recognize recent (i.e., last five years) research productivity and achievements – not a lifetime achievement recognition.
Eligibility
All regular and special faculty with a minimum of one year of CAFLS service at the time of nomination are eligible.
Junior and senior faculty are defined as:
- Junior - within 10 years of completion of their terminal degree
- Senior - more than 10 years since completion of their terminal degree
Nomination Requirements and Procedure
Faculty and staff may be nominated by their supervisor, other faculty, staff, students or self by completing an award nomination form and submitting the materials specified.

- Summary describing the highlights, achievements, and accomplishments to be used at the awards ceremony, website, etc. (250 word maximum)
- Primary Area: In 200 words or less, describe nominee’s primary and secondary (if applicable) areas of research or creative activity.
- Achievements: In 500 words or less, describe major research or creative achievements, including any new discoveries/breakthroughs, major contributions to the field, external funding, creativity, originality, editorships, and impact of work (e.g., for articles, use impact factor of journals, citations…)
- Research and Creative Activity Recognition: List major awards (with an emphasis on national/international recognition) related to research and creative works.
- CV: 10 pages maximum with an emphasis on scholarly related activity, grants, patents, creative works for the last 5 years)
Optional Materials:
- Examples of Work (3 maximum, examples should be from the last 5 years and selected to provide evidence of quality rather than quantity)

Faculty Extension Awards
These awards recognize outstanding contributions of faculty to Extension at Clemson University. All award winners will receive a plaque and honorarium for $500.
The award honors two faculty members (one junior, and one senior) who have demonstrated commitment to excellence in extension/outreach programs and who have made significant contributions to the spirit of engagement found in our land grant mission.
Eligibility
All regular and special faculty with a minimum of one year of CAFLS service at the time of nomination are eligible.
Junior and senior faculty are defined as:
- Junior - Assistant Professor or Post-doctoral Fellow
- Senior - Associate Professor or Professor
