Crop Test Data
Corn
The corn variety test is made up of tests planted at several locations throughout the state. Multiple-year and multiple-location data are presented which can be used as a basis for variety selection. The locations are as follows: Blackville - Southern coastal plain dry land and irrigated; Florence - Northern coastal plain dry land and irrigated; Clemson - piedmont bottomland. The data for the current crop year is usually posted in October or November.
The dry land test at Pendleton was lost due to extremely dry and hot weather in 2016.
Corn Silage
The silage-corn variety test is made up of tests planted at several locations throughout the state. The locations are as follows: Blackville - Southern coastal plain dry land; Pendleton - upper piedmont dry land; Newberry - Lower Piedmont dry land and Clemson - Upper Piedmont Bottom Land.
Cotton
The cotton variety trial is made up of early and later maturing tests at several locations in the state. The Blackville and Florence locations each have a dry-land and irrigated trial. The locations are: Blackville - Southern coastal plain; Florence - Northern coastal plain; Dillon County on farm; Lee County on farm; and Calhoun County on farm. The yield data for the current crop year will be posted in November/December, with the fiber data to follow in January.

Small Grain
The small grain variety tests are conducted annually at Clemson, Florence, and Blackville in South Carolina.
The evaluations are conducted to determine the value and adaptability of commercially available and experimental small grain varieties for planting in the state. Continued testing and evaluation are essential to provide farmers, seedsmen, and other agricultural workers with reliable information to assist in selection of varieties best adapted to their locality and individual requirements.
This publication contains current and multiple year data for several standard varieties and some newer promising varieties and strains. Information is provided for yield, test weight, plant height, and heading date of the barley, oat and wheat varieties tested.
Soybean
The soybean variety test is made up of trials planted at several locations throughout the state. These trials present data which can be used as a basis for variety selections. The locations are as follows: Florence - Northern coastal plain; Blackville- Southern coastal plain: Clemson - Piedmont Bottomland.
