Jason Hurdich is a Deaf native signer of American Sign Language (ASL) from New York City. With 30 years of experience in higher education, he has taught ASL and signed language interpreting courses at colleges and universities across the United States. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer of American Sign Language at Clemson University. Hurdich earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston University and a Master of Education in Signed Language Interpretation from the University of North Florida. He is a Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certified Deaf Interpreter and has worked professionally as a Deaf interpreter for 20 years. His 25 years of experience in the interpreting field include serving as the first Lead Call Center Manager for Spanish Video Relay Service operations and as Professional Development Coordinator for ASL Services, Inc. He also spent ten years conducting research and leading sign language projects for Vcom3D, Inc. His work included writing federal and state grant proposals designed to strengthen STEM education and literacy among Deaf and Hard of Hearing students at the K–12 and postsecondary levels. From 2021 to 2024, Hurdich served as Secretary of the RID Board of Directors. He has received numerous awards and honors recognizing his contributions to Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. Outside the university, Hurdich enjoys road trips to Western North Carolina and creating content for social media.
I am Jason Hurdich, a Senior Lecturer of American Sign Language at Clemson University. I hold a B.A. in Political Science from Boston University and a Master of Education degree in Signed Language Interpretation from the University of North Florida. I am also a RID Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI).
I am proud to be a part of the talented and motivated academic community at Clemson, where I have the privilege of developing students' American Sign Language skills. As the ASL Club advisor, I am committed to promoting ASL and Deaf culture on campus.
In addition to my role at Clemson, I served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, Inc. (RID) from 2021 to 2024. I remain passionate about advancing the field of interpreting and promoting accessibility for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
