Sandy King is Professor Emeritus of Languages at Clemson University, where he taught Spanish and specialized in the history of Spanish photography during a 35-year academic career. King has remained active as an author, photographer, and educator. His publications include The Photographic Impressionists of Spain (1989) and Schmidt de las Heras: Fotografías 1944–1960 (2000). Post-retirement publications on photography include Handcrafted: The Art and Practice of the Handmade Print (2014) and Carbon Transfer Printing: A Step-by-Step Manual (2019).
