Research Interests
Generative Euclidean Electronic Composition, Modern Music for Silent Film

Composer & improvisor Clifton Hyde has been constantly exploring the nooks and crannies of organized sound since hitting the low E string on his uncle's Telecaster and being awed by the experimental soundscapes of "Tomorrow Never Knows" at the ripe old age of five. Native to South Mississippi, Clifton has performed at festivals and concert halls all across North & South America, Europe, & Asia in genres as wide as metal, jazz, free improv, ambient electronic, classical, and unabashed pop. As a longtime member of the Blue Man Group, Clifton gained invaluable experience with the effects of sound & music in bringing the theatrical experience to greater heights. Following in the footsteps of his great grandfather Clifton has done much work in film. He has scored multiple feature films and done extensive research on the performance practice of silent film musicians of the early 20th century and has brought that tradition to modern electronic composition and integrated it with the current immersive, modular, & computer technology.
