Gabriel Holder is from the nearby town of Westminster, SC. He earned his Master of Arts in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Georgia (UGA) in 2024. At UGA, Gabriel researched laboratory phonetics and Spanish historical linguistics. As he also holds a bachelor's degree in Arabic, his master's thesis focused on the adaptation of Arabic loanwords into the Spanish language beginning in the eighth century. Additionally, Gabriel worked two summers in Valencia, Spain on the UGA en España study abroad program while studying towards his MA. After graduating from Georgia, Gabriel taught Spanish for one year at the University of South Carolina. He now joins the Clemson faculty, where he is happy to be serving his home community as a Lecturer of Spanish. Beyond this, his greatest desire in teaching is to help form global students through sharing his love of Castilian Spanish and Spanish culture with them through unique activities and methods of engagement in his classes.
