Protean Bassist Michael T. Geib defies musical boundaries. A true musical chameleon, he thrives in every artistic context and aspires to set a new standard of double bass playing in the twenty-first century. He has performed with countless notable artists, including Benny Golson, Kenny Garrett, 2CELLOS, Il Divo, Dave Douglas, Jodi Benson, and Jorja Fleezanis. An in-demand recording artist with hundreds of credits to his name, he has performed on a multitude of projects for the Equilibrium, Naxos, Onyx Lane, Quam Audio, Sensory Overload, and Xolo labels.

A New York native, he is fortunate to spend time throughout the Mid-Atlantic, the Southeast, and the American West. He maintains an active performance career with the Brisch Center for Historical Performance, Colorado MahlerFest, Dyberry Creek Music Festival, Painted Sky Opera, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, and the UCO Jazz Lab. He is a proud member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 375-703, the International Society of Bassists, and the American String Teachers Association.

A steward for posterity, Michael T. Geib teaches at the University of Central Oklahoma, Geib Musik, and Clemson University as an Artist-in-Residence. He is committed to teaching bassists to be versed in all types of music, with his doctoral treatise focusing on teaching improvisation to orchestral double bass players. His principal teachers were Melanie Punter, Rodney Jordan, Ian Bracchitta, and Delbert Felix.

Michael T. Geib is honored to represent the D'Addario, Onyx Lane, and KRUTZ Strings catalog of artists, as well as the Recording Academy as a Grammy Voter.
