Dr. Lawrence Dallman joined the department as Visiting Assistant Professor in 2023. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He specializes in epistemology and metaphilosophy, and his research is principally in 19th- and 20th-century European philosophy. His recent work concerns Karl Marx, defending a radically new interpretation of Marx's philosophy informed by careful reconstruction of his views in epistemology and philosophical methodology. Dallman also has interests in the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, American philosophy (esp. Roy Wood and Wilfrid Sellars), political philosophy, and the philosophy of technology.
