Addison Horton is a first year Digital History PhD student and teaching assistant at Clemson University. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in History at Clemson in 2023. Her research focuses on women’s participation in emancipation efforts in 19th century America. She intends to track correspondence between women’s advocacy groups across state lines. Her research interests include Digital History, Gender Studies, and Social Movements. Addison is also working on a grant, where she is studying the intersection of sports culture and African American history during the Segregation era. She intends to geolocate where boxing matches, particularly those in which black and white men contended against one another, were hosted and broadcasted. Additionally, Addison is a research assistant for Dr. James Burns. Her responsibilities include using ArcGIS to create visualizations for datasets.
