Alfred BundrickAlfred Bundrick - Professor

Professor Bundrick served on the late Senator Strom Thurmond’s staff as a Legislative Assistant and as Legislative Director for over a decade. In this role, he managed the Senator’s legislative staff and interacted with many federal and state agencies, and local governments. After his time on Capitol Hill, Professor Bundrick joined Clemson University as the first Director of Federal Relations. In this position, he worked with federal policymakers to advocate for the University’s legislative priorities. Currently, he is the Associate Director of the Cooperative Education Program. His policy interests include state and local government, Congress, lobbying, higher education, and economic development.

Ronnie Chrestman - ProfessorRonnie Chrestman - Professor

Dr. Chrestman has over 33 years of experience in research, data collection and data analysis.  He currently works as a Research Associate in the Office of Institutional Research at Clemson University.  He conducts retention and graduation studies in addition to assisting faculty, staff, students and the administration in the collection and summarizing of data.

Renee Nichols - ProfessorRenee Nichols - Professor

Ms. Nichols has over 25 years experience of executive leadership in the nonprofit sector. She has functioned as a community organizer, grants woman, project developer and fundraiser.  Most recently, she served as CEO of an area-wide Council on Aging in a large urban area.

David Cook - ProfessorDavid Cook - Professor

David Cook served 23 years in the Army including assignments as a foreign area officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency. He subsequently worked with a number of states in implementation and training of intelligence fusion centers and with the Department of Defense Program Management Office for Tactical Biometrics supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He currently is the Chief, Facilities and Logistics for a Defense Intelligence Agency facility in Virginia. His interests include homeland security policy, homeland security intelligence, Defense support to civilian authorities, cyber security policy, and privacy and security issues.

Lori Dickes - DirectorLori Dickes - Director

Lori has a Master's Degrees in both Applied Economics and Political Science from the University of Central Florida and a PhD in Policy Studies from Clemson University. Her professional experience includes over fifteen years of experience teaching economics at universities and colleges in Florida, Minnesota and South Carolina. For over ten years she has been one of the primary teacher trainers for the non-profit organization, the South Carolina Council on Economic Education. Her current research and professional interests are focused on regional and rural economic development and the economic and social impacts of water policy and management.

Carolyn has been with the Strom Thurmond Institute for over ten years.  She serves as the only full-time administrative assistant, as well as the admissions coordinator for two graduate degree programs, the PhD in Policy Studies and the Master of Public Administration.

Thomas Walker III - Graduate AssistantThomas Walker III - Graduate Assistant

Tom Walker currently serves as the graduate assistant for the MPA program. Tom holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Government from Seattle University and is pursuing his Ph.D. in Policy Studies at Clemson University.
