Institutional Assessment
The mission of the Office of Institutional Assessment is to support the University's commitment to academic and operational excellence by facilitating a comprehensive, data-driven system of academic program and administrative assessment. In the pursuit of continuous improvement, the office consults with faculty, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders regarding recognized best practices, strategies, and standards. In addition, the office facilitates assessment activities in compliance with SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation. OIA guides annual assessment planning and reporting and collaborates with stakeholders throughout the process via in-person and on-demand training, in-person and group meeting, and regular communication.
Annual Assessment Cycle
Clemson University follows a systematic approach to the annual assessment of all academic and non-academic programs, services, departments, centers, and institutes. The assessment process consists of two parts: a planning document and an annual report. Although assessment occurs every year, each full cycle spans two years. In the first year, units complete the planning document; in the second year, they submit the annual report based on that plan. As a result, academic programs and administrative units often begin their next assessment cycle while the current one is still in progress.
