The Office for Institutional Effectiveness manages a selection of cloud-based data services designed to support research, planning, assessment, and continuous improvement across the University. These platforms provide valuable insights into academic productivity, labor market trends, student outcomes, survey research. Below is an overview of the tools available to faculty, staff, and students, along with their primary uses and support resources.
Academic Analytics
Academic Analytics offers comparative data on faculty research productivity at the program, department, and institutional levels. The platform supports benchmarking against peer institutions, analysis of scholarly output, and informed decision-making around program development and faculty advancement. It is especially useful for strategic planning, accreditation reporting, and departmental self-studies. Access is limited to designated users; training and consultation are available through the Office for Institutional Effectiveness.
Chmura JobsEQ
Chmura JobsEQ is a labor market analytics platform providing real-time and projected data on employment trends, industry growth, and wage information. It supports program alignment with regional and national workforce needs, helping academic units identify opportunities for new or revised programs. Steppingblocks
Clemson students, faculty, and staff have access to Steppingblocks, a data platform that provides detailed information on alumni career outcomes. Using data from a wide range of public sources, Steppingblocks shows where graduates work, what jobs they hold, how much they earn, where they live, and what skills are in demand. The Digital Career Counselor (DCC) is a student-focused tool that helps users explore real career paths of Clemson alumni, understand outcomes by major or employer, and estimate the value of different degrees. Faculty and staff may also find DCC helpful for advising and program planning. Two additional tools—Graduate Outcomes and Graduate Explorer (coming soon)—will support staff and administrators in analyzing alumni earnings, locations, employer trends, and other outcomes to inform recruitment, marketing, and program review.
Survey Development and Administration
The Office for Institutional Effectiveness offers resources and services for conducting surveys that support research, assessment, and continuous improvement across the University. Find tools and guidance for surveying students, faculty, and external audiences, with processes designed to ensure effective design, responsible data management, and coordination. Resources include data use guidelines and best practices and a centralized calendar for survey scheduling.
Qualtrics
Qualtrics is the university-supported survey research platform used to create and distribute surveys, analyze results, and support data collection for assessment, research, and program improvement. Syllabus Repository
Clemson Online now hosts the updated syllabus management system, Simple Syllabus. Integrated with Canvas, Simple Syllabus offers a centralized and consistent platform for creating and managing course syllabi. Instructors can easily build syllabi that automatically incorporates institutional policies and course details. The platform also allows administrators to view syllabi across departments, supporting efforts in curriculum mapping, accreditation, and assessment of learning outcomes.
