The SCBG is committed to providing world-class educational outreach and opportunities through public classes, engagement with Clemson University classes, and interpretation of exhibits and special events. We believe we exist to teach but also to continue to learn ourselves. We will foster continuing education for our staff and continuously change our management goals to reflect the most recent and appropriate techniques to achieve our mission.
The South Carolina Botanical Garden offers a variety of educational classes and lectures for adults including topics such as native plant identification, botanical arts, horticulture, garden-to-table cooking and much more.
The South Carolina Botanical Garden offers a variety of school and group programs designed for elementary-age students. Middle and high school programs are available by request. Learning at the Garden is inquiry-based and designed to engage students. Programs support South Carolina science standards and can be custom-tailored to match a classroom topic.
The South Carolina Botanical Garden offers a variety of school tours that satisfy science or social studies requirements. These 45-60 minute programs are a powerful way to support your curriculum with material tailored to the level of your group. Programs are inquiry-based and correlated with South Carolina Science Standards. Any of these programs can be modified to suit your grade level. Other programs can be developed to suit your needs.
