The Animal & Veterinary Sciences (AVS) Department at Clemson University offers the Bachelor of Science in AVS with options in either:
The AVS Department feels that education does not begin or end with a degree program. We serve the livestock, poultry and veterinary professions through our participation in Extension and continuing education programs. These include the joint sponsorship of the Large Animal Medicine Short Course for veterinarians seeking additional expertise and continuing education credits (with the SC Association of Veterinarians – Large Animal Academy (http://scav.org/) and the Clemson Livestock-Poultry Health Program: (http://www.clemson.edu/LPH ).
The AVS department also offers a number of Extension programs for livestock and poultry producers and consumers. This includes certificate programs in: Animal Manure Management (http://www.clemson.edu/camm/) and partnerships with commodity groups: SC Cattlemen’s Association for the SC Jr. Beef Roundup and the SC Poultry Federation (http://www.scpoultry.org/) for the Poultry 4-H program.
Additional information can be attained by going to the Clemson Extension website. The faculty and staff of the AVS Department also participate in the SC Commissioner’s School of Agriculture (http://www.clemson.edu/cafls/sccsa/index.html) for high school juniors and seniors who spend a week on campus to learn about the diverse agricultural and natural resources opportunities at Clemson University.
