Sociology students study social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. The Department offers Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in sociology with three concentrations: general sociology, community studies, and social service. A sociology minor is also an excellent choice for any student who desires to develop a nuanced understanding of human behavior and the social world.

Anthropology is the empirical study of humanity. Students study the evolutionary origin of humans, the distinctiveness of our species, and the diversity of cultures around the world and throughout time. The B.S. and B.A. in Anthropology prepare students for careers in human resources, international business, public relations, museum and park service interpretation, health services, and other people-oriented positions.
Criminal Justice B.A./B.S./Minor

Criminal Justice students study the three main elements of the justice system: the courts, policing, and corrections. Students develop their research methods skills for analyzing data, evaluating criminological theory, and applying concepts to real-world problems and issues. The Criminal Justice B.S. and B.A. programs prepare students for professions in law enforcement, social services, and criminal investigation.

The Department offers a Master of Science in Social Science degree. This graduate program provides a solid foundation in social science research methods. It emphasizes practical and theoretical knowledge in the areas of sociology, anthropology and criminal justice, and focuses on the acquisition of social science research skills, theory application and field experience. A thesis and non-thesis option are available for the M.S.
