  • UDL Workshop 3: Promoting Learning Independence for All Students
    March 27th, 2020

    Join Dr. Michelle Rogers from 8:30am to 10:00am in the Brown Room (4th floor) of Cooper Library.

    Students who can self-regulate their learning, such as handle their time well, make study plans, ask effective questions, can improve their academic performance and continue to be effective learners beyond college. However, students vary in their ability to apply effective learning strategies, set and work toward learning goals, and evaluate their own performance accurately. This workshop is intended for instructors who are interested in learning techniques to support students in taking charge of their learning. Please register.

    March 30th, 2020

    CONCERT is a six week course designed for faculty teaching or developing courses online for Clemson University. The course was created by Clemson Online and is different than previous online trainings provided by CCIT. The course is designed for anyone wishing to refresh (or learn for the first time) online teaching and development skills. The course is offered entirely online in an asynchronous format to allow for maximum flexibility. Each week, faculty will spend approximately 3-5 hours on the training. In this course, faculty will engage in content spanning three modules.

  • Tigers Teach (Postponed)
    Fall 2020 Semester

    As the newest Clemson Online initiative, Tigers Teach aims to empower instructors with short talks on teaching issues and trends. This 20 minute talk followed by 10 minutes of Q&A will focus on the art of mentoring young researchers (Students and PostDocs). Come listen to Dr. Andy Mount, Director of the Okeanos Research Library and Research Assistant Professor and Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, discuss his experiences with research students.

    August 12th, 2019

    This half-day conference facilitated by Clemson’s Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation (OTEI) and Clemson Online, will help you get ready to teach your first classes at Clemson. The conference will allow you to network with your peers and learn more about Clemson’s teaching and learning culture, teaching resources, and support services.

    iClicker Cloud is the newest product line released by iClicker. In this class you will learn about the iClicker Cloud instructor client.     In this training, we will focus on formative and summative assessments. If you use written exams and quizzes, this workshop can show you alternative ways to evaluate student learning using VoiceThread in your Canvas courses. We will discuss strategies for improving student presentations, using comment moderation, and designing portfolios that can replace written exams.

  • Clemson University Teaching Symposium
    December 17th, 2019

    Pearce Center for Professional Communication, Office of Teaching Effectiveness & Innovation, CU Libraries, and Clemson Online are delighted to announce the second annual Clemson University Teaching Symposium (formerly the Teaching Forum). The symposium will showcase Clemson's outstanding teaching strategies, provide an opportunity to share innovative ideas and resources, and highlight the exceptional teaching by faculty and graduate students.

    The Teaching Symposium will be held on December 17 from 9 am - 4 pm in the Academic Success Center, and it will feature four workshops and several six-minute talks by faculty members. Lunch will be provided.

    Clemson Online will present (TBA) on strategies for using Canvas effectively in face-to-face classes.

  • UDL Workshop 1: Creating Accessible Courses
    January 23rd, 2020

    Join Dr. Michelle Rogers from 8:15am to 9:45am in the Brown Room (4th floor) of Cooper Library.

    Instructors can provide instruction that is inclusive of student diversity in a variety of ways, including techniques based on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework for instruction. This workshop is intended for instructors who are interested in learning strategies to make classroom engagement, course materials, and course assignments accessible to all students. To attend, please register.

    This is the first of three UDL workshops to be presented this spring. Attend all three workshops and receive certification from OTEI in UDL Foundations. NOTE: All the UDL workshops are also part of the Strategic Inclusive Excellence certification.

    February 19th, 2020 has been designated as an exercise date for Academic Continuity for Clemson University, but what does this mean? Basically, all face-to-face instruction will be held online on that date.

    As the newest Clemson Online initiative, Tigers Teach aims to empower instructors with short talks on teaching issues and trends. This 20 minute talk followed by 10 minutes of Q&A will focus on building a sense of community with online students. Come listen to Dr. Lori Kinley, Associate Director of Online Programs at Clemson Online, discuss her experiences of creating a sense of belonging and place with online students.

    Effective communication of course goals and content is integral to student success. Transparent communication practices assist students from diverse backgrounds and with different learning abilities. This workshop is intended for instructors who are interested in developing skills to increase clarity of course goals and content, while also providing options for students to communicate back their knowledge through activities and assignments.
