Profile

Brandi M. Crowe, PhD, LRT, CTRS is a certified and licensed therapeutic recreation specialist, and has practical experience working with individuals with chronic health conditions in physical medicine and rehabilitation, community-based, and adaptive sport settings. Dr. Crowe's primary line of research focuses on the use of complementary and integrative health approaches among individuals with chronic health conditions for the purpose of: (a) addressing the primary symptoms and/or residual impacts of their health condition; (b) preventing the onset of secondary conditions; and (c) promoting individuals' positive health and quality of life through leisure participation and community engagement. As part of this work, Dr. Crowe researches the role of leisure within individuals' stress and coping processes, as an individual's ability to successfully cope contributes to their wellbeing and quality of life. Dr. Crowe's secondary line of research focuses on healthy aging across the lifespan. Currently, Dr. Crowe's healthy aging-related research is focused on the impact of participation in evidence-based fall prevention programs on clinical outcomes (e.g., falls/fall-related injury; fall risk; fall-related self-efficacy) among older adults.
