Dr. Wayne Freimund named PRTM chair

Dr. Wayne FreimundWe have completed a national search for our new department chair and I am pleased to announce that we have chosen Dr. Wayne Freimund to fill the position. Dr. Freimund is the Arkwright Professor of Park and Protected Area Management at the University of Montana. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in Forestry and Recreation Resource Management. He has twice served as the chair of the Department of Society and Conservation at the University of Montana and twice the director of the University of Montana Wilderness Institute and co-director of the International Seminar on Protected Area Management. He has an extensive record of scholarly publications covering a broad spectrum of topics from changing perspectives of conservation stewardship to building capacity in the management community-based tourism enterprises and other parks and protected areas.
