Profile

Michael Cunningham is a native South Carolinian, raised in the Level Land community in Abbeville County. He is a 1995 graduate of Clemson University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in English. In 1997 Michael completed a Masters in Public Administration in a joint degree program from Clemson and the University of South Carolina. In May 1997, Michael began his career in the public sector, working in the Human Resources Department with Greenville County. In 1998 he was hired as an Administrative Intern for Anderson County and remained employed with the County, serving in various capacities including County Administrator, until March 2009. Michael currently is the Vice President for Advancement with AnMed Health where he has been employed since September of 2009. He has served as the faculty advisor for the Clemson University S.C. Student Legislature Delegation since 2002. Michael's current activities include: Anderson Federal Credit Union Board of Directors Mentor Anderson School District # 5 Member American College of Healthcare Executives Salvation Army Advisory Board Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Advisory Council, Chairman SC Higher Education Foundation Board of Trustees African American Leadership Council, United Way of Anderson Community Housing Resource Board of Anderson, Chairman Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors PlaySafe Board of Directors Ten at the Top Board of Directors Michael is married to the former Bridget Peak of Union S.C. and they are the parents of a daughter and a son.
